A summary of Technology
  • In Service Inspection (ISI)
  • KPS has already completed reviews of Technology and OJT training qualification regarding above technology, purchased orders of ISI and performed Uljin plant #1, 2, Younggwang plant #3, 4, Wolseong plant #1, 2. In the short term, these inspections are designed to be performed with support from extermal partners, transitioning to independent execution in the long term.
  • Eddy Current Testing (ECT)
  • KPS is scheduled to expand service areas by projecting domestic and overseas projects and participating into an nuclear power service project in the U. S. as well as by obtaining QDA ⅡA certificates through reviewing acquired documents and overseas training ('97: 12 persons, '99: 5 persons).
  • Reactor Control Rod Cluster Assembly Inspection (RCCA Inspection)
  • KPS applied its expertise in RCCA inspection data review, analysis, and overseas training to Uljin Units 1&2. This directly resulted in foreign currency savings and the expansion of business areas previously reliant on overseas engineering services.
  • Ultrasonic Eddy Current Testing (UTEC)
  • Leveraging its newly acquired expertise in signal assessment and equipment operation from overseas training, K is set to implement advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) on sleeved sections for upcoming reactor head penetration inspections.
  • Sludge Lancing
  • Overcoming initial system integration challenges in localizing an advanced T-5 alternative, KPS successfully enhanced the efficiency and reliability of sludge lancing operations during Foster Miller Outage Cycle 4. Moving forward, KPS is actively reviewing the development of advanced equipment designated to perform sludge lancing up to the upper tube support plate.
  • ROSA II
  • Since establishing its advanced robotics and localized assembly capabilities in late 1998, KPS has consistently executed core steam generator tube services--including sleeving, plugging, hard rolling, and tube pulling--using its proprietary system. Today, KPS maintains comprehensive technical expertise in ROSA III body assembly and maintenance, continuously enhanced by specialized overseas training to ensure world-class equipment operations.
  • Simplified Head Assembly
  • KPS has contracted the new STCA, Simplified Head Assembly Technology with Westinghouse in 2001. KPS will proceed to business of SHA after overseas training in 2002. The SHA allows for the permanent removal of the CRDM duct work and separate reactor missile shied, thereby eliminating the significant time and dose associated with the handling of these items during the refueling outage. With the SHA, the reactor head lift tripod remains permanently assembled to the reactor head. A simplified diagram of the CRDM and RPI cable arrangement is also provided, illustrating that cable disconnections are performed at a common connector plate located away from the higher dose-rate area at the top of the CRDM housings.

Technology agreements
  • Fast Gen. Limited Acess Generator inspection
  • Leveraging foundational materials analysis and advanced overseas training, KPS developed robust field adaptation capabilities and independently executed a total of nine generator stator core integrity inspections using manual EL-CID equipment on detached rotors. This track record includes four nuclear power plant inspections (including Wolseong Unit 1) and five hydro/thermal power plant inspections (including Seoincheon Unit 4). Furthermore, K strategically expanded its business scope by introducing a Wedge Tightness System in February 1998 and adopting an automated EL-CID system in 1999.
  • Mushroom Stud Installation (MSI)
  • Following the completion of materials analysis and field OJT in December 1998, KPS procured specialized Mushroom Stud Installation equipment for advanced stud extraction. Utilizing this capability, KPS successfully executed the removal of a stuck turbine bolt at Samcheonpo Power Plant Unit 2 (May 20 - June 30, 1999) and completed a high-temperature bolt removal project at Pyungtaek Power Plant in September 1999.
  • Electro-Hydraulic System Analyser
  • KPS obtained materials relevant to electro-hydraulic system analyser, and it is scheduled to project such business after completing a training applicable to analysis and field application in 2000.
  • CERT
  • To address generator coolant leakage risks and optimize operational efficiency, K has successfully mastered advanced CERT technology through comprehensive materials analysis and field training. By transitioning from costly foreign engineering services to KPS' localized CERT capabilities, an estimated USD 100,000 will be saved annually while expanding into the international market. Following equipment procurement, KPS is set to launch full-scale field services in 2000.
  • Fast Fourier Analysis
  • Positioned as a continuously advancing and highly scalable solution, KPS is set to launch a dedicated commercial service based on its newly acquired FFA technology. Having already completed the essential data analysis and field application training, KPS is transforming this technical expertise into a high-value business model.
