The Power Plant Maintenance Engineering Center has built a comprehensive service system for repairing components such as gas-turbine and steam-turbine parts. Drawing on a range of advanced technologies, it delivers complete maintenance services — including the refurbishment and manufacture of high-temperature gas- and steam-turbine components, the refurbishment of large industrial-equipment parts, and the machining and balancing of large rotating bodies.

Gas turbines for power generation operate at temperatures above 1,350°C and run on peak-load duty during periods of high electricity demand. Their frequent starts and stops cause various forms of damage — thermal fatigue, cracking, corrosion, and burnout — in high-temperature parts such as buckets (blades), nozzles (vanes), transition pieces, and combustion liners. Applying advanced maintenance techniques such as coating, stripping, welding, machining, and heat treatment, and developing dedicated tools and fixtures, the Power Plant Maintenance Engineering Center performs expert refurbishment on the many gas-turbine models its customers operate.
These services extend equipment life and make a substantial contribution to a stable power supply.
The Power Plant Maintenance Engineering Center maintains the many kinds of rotating machinery — gas turbines, steam turbines, and various industrial equipment — that play the most critical role in power generation and industrial facilities. To assess the integrity and extend the life of the latest gas-turbine rotors, it operates Korea’s only dedicated rotor maintenance shop, offering one-stop precision rotor inspection that runs from transport, disassembly, and non-destructive testing through machining, measurement, and reassembly. For large rotors, the Center is equipped with a stacking facility that holds rotors vertically during work, together with a state-of-the-art NC lathe and balancing machine rated for lengths up to 12 m and loads up to 80 tons; for small and medium rotors, it maintains a wide range of machining and measurement equipment to deliver maintenance of the highest standard.
The Center also performs the precision diagnostics, correction, and performance improvement needed to extend the life of aging power facilities — a need that has grown in recent years. To this end, it independently developed and demonstrated a rotor-bend straightening technology that restores deformed rotors to their original condition, and it repairs damaged areas of rotors through welding and heat treatment. It also holds specialized rotor technologies, including center-bore inspection and life assessment of steam-turbine rotors and the manufacture and replacement of blades. Since 2012, the Power Plant Maintenance Engineering Center has also provided shop-based generator-rotor maintenance.
For insulation and coils whose performance has degraded after long service, it rebuilds the insulation system and, through rewinding maintenance and diagnostics that remedy weaknesses in the original design, secures stable operating performance and extends equipment life.
Proud to be a specialized shop for the comprehensive maintenance of gas-turbine power facilities, the Power Plant Maintenance Engineering Center devotes its full efforts to cutting costs by localizing high-temperature gas-turbine components.
In particular, its expert engineers — backed by state-of-the-art equipment such as material-analysis instruments, three-dimensional measuring machines, and CAD systems — concentrate on developing gas-turbine components through the application of reverse engineering.
