To do so, it applies analytical methods including structural analysis, flow analysis, and coupled thermal-fluid-structure analysis, as well as root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
It also provides related engineering services.
KEPCO KPS develops specialized welding equipment (GTAW/LBW), welding-process technologies, and welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and provides related engineering services to secure the integrity of major components — such as reactors and piping — in power plants at home and abroad.
By harnessing core Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as IoT, AI, cloud computing, AR, and VR, KEPCO KPS develops the building blocks of an intelligent maintenance system.
These include condition-monitoring and diagnostic technology, maintenance-support technology, and safety-assurance technology for power facilities.

KEPCO KPS researches and develops power-conversion devices — a core technology for new and renewable generation such as solar and wind power — and develops BMS, PMS, and EMS technologies for energy storage systems.
It also provides engineering services related to the power grid.
KEPCO KPS develops remote-maintenance and automated-inspection systems that let workers operate safely in extreme environments involving high temperatures, high radiation, and noise.
